the-azure-blue asked: Ello. I've been in love with your art, particularly the Tom Waits piece, for quite some time - in fact, I'd love it as a print on the wall of our new apartment. :) My husband and I are visiting Manhattan to see "Sleep No More" for our anniversary, so I wondered if you might have any suggestions on a hotel to stay at as well as any shows to see.
I’m actually going to order some prints soon. I want to do a run of erotic things, and the Reeperbahn drawing will be among them.
For hotels I’d recommend the Jane or the Inn at Irving Place if you can swing it. I haven’t been in the loop with theater since opera is done for the season, but it seems like you guys are coming down for The theater event of the year anyway. In terms of night life things like burlesque, I don’t know when you are visiting, but The Champagne Riot (gorgeous vintage cabaret, burlesque and dance night) is every 2nd Friday of the month, Wit’s End (my favorite vintage dance soiree) is every last Saturday of the month, the Salon is fabulous and you can always check weekly burlesque in Time Out. The Rhinestone Follies are lovely, see if you can catch a show of theirs. Oh, and the Jazz Age Lawn Party is the weekend of July 16th-17th.
…I feel like I need to start my own personal Bright Young Man’s guide to NYC.
