Ok, not technically a dress, but Basmanov did dress in women’s clothes for Ivan and wore that mask, so it still counts, right?

Welp, Basmanov is happening again!

The annual Russian Christmas party rolled through our house yesterday. I think I have managed to cook up the best spread yet, with two kinds of pies, pelmeni, blintzes, salads and an enormous vat of borscht. There were kokoshniks aplenty, a babushka, and my friend A. showed up as Basmanov from the orgy scene, at which point I pretty much lost my damn mind.

So you know how sometimes you know one thing and you know another thing, but the really obvious connection between the two somehow does not strike you until much much later? And then you feel like an idiot? So here is Fyodor Alexeyevich. Guess what other Fyodor’s father’s name is Alexei? Yeeaaah…
